Fresh from an excellent show along on the Kings Road in Chelsea, Peter Borthwick and the band will be making their way to Barnes, home of The Bulls Head for an afternoon show this coming Sunday 21 January. Time Out describes the famous venue as 'a venerable riverside pub is one of the oldest in the area, dating back to 1684. Mishka is a singer, instrumentalist and voice teacher. Born in the Philippines to a Filipina sculptor mother called Agnes Arellano, Miska discovered her love of music at a young age, signed with Candid Records and has already enjoyed a musical career that has taken her from Germany, The Philippines, Argentina to Brazil. Recently she released an album in the UK with the great Pete Churchill called Stories to Tell.

They’ve mingled in
effectively with glasses
topped-up frequently.
A symmetry of faces
gazing spellbound
angled avidly at
rhythm rhyming
dangerous before
the set begins.
 
Fingers trickle expertly
and tickle each piano key
- a consonance of ivory,
with harmonising cutlery
(like tuning forks,
but lyrically) - and
Peter starts to sing.  
 
Now basement boasts
cacophony of darks
and brights chromatically,
past silken sax bowed sexily
to Peter, as he sings.

At the end of June I'm returning with my band to The Pheasantry, the Pizza Express home of jazz in West London. Pizza Express are great champions of jazz and so it is a delight to return to a business which has been a great supporter over many years. It's a superb intimate venue - but easy to miss as there's a busy restaurant above. If you are planning on coming on June 27th then you need to book tickets. For those in the South of France there's lots to see at this year's Jazz à Juan festival at Juan-les-Pins in Antibes.

​Just picking my favourites, highlights include British star Gregory Porter, Diana Krall and Robin McKelle.

Last year one particularly magical evening Stevie Wonder performed on the giant stage by the beach singing Isn't She Lovely.
