            Biography

            PB in blue
From a capella to big band, Peter Borthwick is king of the swing and riding the wave of a jazz resurgence.

Peter's vocal style, with echoes of Chet Baker and Mel Torme and even a bit of Bublé, is soft, smooth, compulsive listening. PB's band performs a combination of swing, ballads and bossa novas with a great deal from the American Songbook.

The British born singer with a classical music background has been singing from a young age and is inspired by the likes of Cole Porter, Antonio Carlos Jobin, Michel Legrand and more recently Harry Connick Jr. His jazz career began in a small restaurant in Chiswick with pianist Robert Berry singing My Funny Valentine in front of a small audience and then became a regular performer at a private members party night called Louche Lounge Society. Studying under Lea DeLaria, he has since  set up his own band.

Peter works with acclaimed pianists Janette Mason and Kit Massey who have both arranged material for him. His band includes Robert Goodhew and Jonny Spall on sax, Mark Fletcher on drums and Simon Little on bass.  From sell out nights at Pizza Express jazz clubs to the Pigalle Club, Piccadilly to sharing a billing with  Tina May at the Pigalle Club and singing with Lea DeLaria at the 606 Club Peter is building up a following.

Other projects include recording with R&B producers The Next Room and duo performance with guitar folk songwriter Will Rutter.

His trio can regularly be found at the The Arts Club on Dover Street in London.

Peter's latest album, entitled THIS MOMENT is due to launch in March 2012. It is produced by Janette Mason and is a mix of 1950s to 1980s Latin-flavoured big band songs featuring Alan Barnes and recorded at the famous Livingston Studios.
